In order to produce fertilized eggs, zebrafish are placed in this breeding tank set MC2A. The standard MC2A tank is filled with 5 liters of system water and the breeding insert is placed in the tank. The removable divider is placed in the breeding insert and subsequently male are placed on one side of the divider and female on the other site. Maximum 4 breeding pairs can be stocked. At the moment spawning is required, the divider is removed. The breeding insert has a sloping stainless steel mesh bottom, stimulating the natural habit of the zebrafish to spawn close to shore.
The produced fertilized eggs fall through stainless steel bottom and can be collected easily by removing the breeding insert.
The breeding tank set MC2A is based on the 5-liter MC2A tank. The set consists of:
- 1 standard polycarbonate MC2A tank (outside dim. 265 x 215 x 142 mm (LxWxH), effective volume 5 liter)
- 1 breeding insert constructed from an adapted polycarbonate MC2A tank with sloping bottom of stainless steel mesh 1 x 1 mm
- 1 standard polycarbonate lid for MC2A tanks
- 1 removable polycarbonate divider for the breeding insert
Polycarbonate is dishwasher safe but can not be autoclaved.
